Tony Woodroffe, Board of Directors, Vice Chair

Mr. Woodroffe created and promoted the epic Caribbean band Fireflight in the 1980s, and they were dubbed the Pied Pipers of Montreal after stealing the show and the entire street parade with their unique blend of “New Wave Soca” music. After pioneering the use of drum sequencers in live and studio applications in Caribbean music he migrated to New York. Mr. Woodroffe’s pioneering spirit led him to explore the use of digital recording techniques and together with Sound on Sound Studios created NYC’s first all digital studio. He was instrumental in pioneering live and studio applications for Pro Tools software, which has become the standard in modern recording studios. Mr. Woodroffe is a guest lecturer at NYU’s film department in Advance Pro Tools applications. Today in the rap and Hip Hop industry he is known as the Pro Tools Guru responsible for creating clean versions and Show Tapes which enabled the widespread promotion of Rap music on the radio, in Music Videos and live shows. Today he is the President and CEO of his own company Noyz Boyz Entertainment, Inc. In his spare time, Mr. Woodroffe has coached 25 people in the Self-Expression and Leadership Program at Landmark Education in New York. He has also mentored upcoming assistants in the urban music industry to develop them into prominent engineers.
